Weekly Colour Spotlight
Each week, I’ll be sharing a standout colour or eye-catching wallpaper that’s piqued my interest. This week, let’s talk about a hue that has reignited my love of cooler tones: “French Salt” by Colourtrend.
Why French Salt is reigniting my love of cool tones
Colourtrend is one of Ireland’s most loved paint brands and is a brand I particularly love working with. French Salt is another stunning addition to their new colour collection.
French Salt is a colour I would not normally gravitate towards, however, its delicate blend of blue and grey is reminiscent of the Irish sea on a stormy day. It is a colour that truly conveys a delicate, moody feel to the point you can smell the sea air. French Salt’s versatility is what makes it truly special. While its cool undertones bring a tranquil, airy feel, it’s equally at home in modern minimalist spaces or traditional coastal retreats.
Pairing French Salt with Other Shades
With dark, heather tones being tipped as the colour of 2025, we will definitely see a revival of blue grey tones. Here are some expert pairing suggestions to maximize French Salt’s potential:
Raglan Road by Colourtrend: Burgundy and Berry tones have this Winter season in a tight grip and Raglan Road is the perfect shade to showcase this. Its rich, red berry notes with subtle purple undertones beautifully counterbalance French Salt’s breezy coolness. In this case, opposites really do attract. Walls in French Salt with feature furniture pieces in Raglan Road strikes a dynamic balance of modern elegance and timeless charm.
Star Studded 0620 & Temperance by Colourtrend: For a sleek, modern aesthetic, introduce deeper navy tones like Star-Studded on the woodwork to highlight French Salt on the walls and to add softness, Temperance a delicate white, grey on the ceiling. This trio creates a cohesive, layered look that feels polished and serene. It’s perfect for open-plan living spaces or bedrooms where calm and sophistication meet.
