Mastering the Art of Colour Selection

Let’s face it: choosing the perfect colour or wallpaper can feel like a daunting task. With so many gorgeous options out there, how do you find the one that truly speaks to your style and space? That's where I come in. My mission is to guide you through this process with ease, curating a selection of shades and designs that feel like they were made just for you.

Weekly Wallpaper Spotlight: A True Classic

Each week, I highlight a standout wallpaper or colour that’s caught my eye. And this week, I’m thrilled to share one of my all-time favourites: Artichoke (Wine) by William Morris & Co. This isn’t just wallpaper; it’s a statement piece that brings history and style into your home.

Morris & Co: A Legacy of Craftsmanship

Let’s talk about William Morris, the legendary textile designer who helped pioneer the Arts & Crafts movement. He founded Morris & Co in 1861, and for over 160 years, the brand has stayed true to its roots—celebrating craftsmanship, bold designs, and that signature historical flair. I’m a huge fan of their daring colours and gothic-inspired patterns, which bring a unique depth and character to any room.

The Artichoke wallpaper in Wine is no exception. With its bold print and overlapping vines, this design adds a touch of moody elegance to your space. The deep burgundy tones create a rich, dramatic atmosphere, while the oversized artichoke motifs keep things interesting. Originally designed by John Henry Dearle in 1898, this print has stood the test of time, adapting beautifully to both traditional and modern interiors.

Perfect Pairings for Artichoke by Morris & Co

Choosing a statement wallpaper like this is just the beginning. The real fun? Finding the perfect paint to complement it. Here are two fantastic shades from Little Greene’s collection that pair beautifully with Artichoke (Wine):

  • Stone Dark Warm 36 by Little Greene: As autumn settles in, it’s time to embrace warm tones that echo the changing leaves. This mellow, bath stone shade is a classic, adding a cosy glow to grey days. Picture it on walls and woodwork, paired with Artichoke on a feature wall—it’s perfect for creating a snug, inviting space.

  • Adventurer 7 by Little Greene: Looking to introduce some red tones without overwhelming your space? Adventurer is a muted red plum shade that’s all about cosy comfort. Its neutral undertone makes it an ideal match for Artichoke—try it on panelling below the wallpaper for a space that’s both muted and impactful.
